Traffic Management Operative
(Non-Practicing) Workshop
This Single-Day Workshop acts as a substitute for the outgoing TC (Traffic Controller) session and marks the second phase in obtaining various TTM qualifications, including STMS.
This workshop also doubles as a refresher for renewing an expiring or expired TMO/TC Qualification.
For those pursuing a practicing Qualification, we offer on-the-job coaching and a practical assessment conducted by our qualified TTM Mentor/Assessor. Kindly note that this extra service involves an additional cost, separate from the Non-Practising workshop.
Workshop Overview & the TMO Role
This is a one-day workshop that prepares the trainee with the theoretical knowledge required to become a Traffic Management Operative (TMO).
What does a TMO do?
Once briefed by the STMS in charge, a person with a TMO Qualification will be able to:
On Category A roads: (Speeds of 60km/h and less)
Undertake a roadside activity where the vehicle is legally parked and accessed from the non-traffic side.
On Category A and B roads: (Speeds of 70km/h and greater)
Set up, maintain, and remove TTM for roadside or shoulder activities where all TTM equipment (including TTM vehicles) is outside the edgeline (or edge of seal if there is no edgeline). Note only when there is a painted edge line defining the shoulder! Otherwise, it reverts back to an STMS setting up and the TMO-P minding that site once established.
Maintain TTM at an existing static worksite when the STMS in charge is away from the worksite. The STMS must return to the worksite to carry out any required changes.
Complete inspection activities.
Please note: to be able to undertake the above tasks the trainee will then need to complete the TMO Practicing Qualification, separate to this workshop.
