Supervisor Universal (STMS-U) Workshop
Non-Practicing

This two-day workshop is tailored for individuals stepping into the role of an STMS for the first time. Ideal for those progressing in their TTM journey and aiming to assume the responsibilities of an STMS.

Workshop Overview

Participants will acquire foundational insights for the STMS Category A, B, or C learning blocks, along with the STMS Mobile Learning block. This workshop grants a non-practicing Qualification. To progress to a practicing Qualification, the next step involves completing the full STMS Cat A or B non-practising & practising qualifications.

Learning Outcomes

  • Master the skill of assessing risk on a worksite, determining both its nature and severity.

  • Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills to guide their crew and visitors.

  • Interpret and comprehend Traffic Management Plans (TMP) with confidence.

  • Apply the principles of implementing the TMP for efficient worksite management.

  • Grasp the essentials of contingency planning.

  • Familiarize themselves with worksite layout distances.

  • Acquire the know-how to conduct thorough TTM briefings.

  • Gain proficiency in completing onsite paperwork

  • Engage in Open-Book Assessments Utilizing CoPTTM

UNIT STANDARD
Upon successful completion of the workshop, the STMS-U qualification will be awarded, a unit standard (US:31961) can also be awarded providing certain pre-requisite criteria has been met.  Once you attend the workshop your Unit Standard will be registered with Connexis.

Who should attend

Designed for those serving as onsite STMS in a mobile operation on Cat A, B, or C roads, as well as for professionals like Civil Contractors, Consultants, Developers, Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers, Event Teams, Construction Supervisors, Utility Operators, Landscapers, and anyone involved in TTM planning and decision-making.

Also valuable for TTM Mentors, TTMP Planners/ Approvers, TTM Auditors, TMCs, and other related roles.

Pre-requisites

  • The Traffic Management Operative (TMO) non-practicing Qualification is the minimum pre-requisite to this (Unit Standard 31959 – TMO-NP) or

  • Be a current TC Qualification holder (Traffic Controller) or

  • Have an expired STMS Qualification
