Site Traffic Management Supervisor

This two-day workshop is designed for individuals transitioning into the role of an STMS, following the completion of the STMS universal workshop.

Workshop Overview

Building upon the knowledge acquired from the STMS universal course, this workshop specifically focuses on the operational aspects of being an STMS in Category A & B road environments:·

  • Category A: Roads with speeds of 60km/h and less·

  • Category B: Roads with speeds of 70km/h and greater

While this workshop provides valuable insights, it is a non-practising qualification, restricting trainees from operating on the road as an STMS immediately. To advance to a practicing qualification, the next step involves completing the STMS Cat A & B mentoring & practising assessment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Conducting thorough safety briefings and site inductions

  • Determining layout distances for Cat A and B roads

  • Theory for Skilfully setting up, maintaining, and removing TTM for static operations

  • Proficiently handling mobile operations

  • Expertly setting up, maintaining, and removing TTM for semi-static operations and closures

  • Effectively managing vulnerable road users

  • Navigating through the complexities of CoPTTM (Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management)

  • Engage in Open-Book Assessments Utilizing CoPTTM

Upon successful completion of the workshop, the STMS-A/B non-practising qualification will be awarded, a unit standard (US:31962) can also be awarded providing certain pre-requisite criteria has been met.

Who should attend

Suitable for individuals engaged in on-site STMS duties on Cat A and/or B roads, as well as those in roles such as TTM Mentor, TTM Planner, TMP Approver, Traffic Management Coordinator, and similar positions.

Pre-requisites

To enrol in this workshop, either hold the

  • STMS Universal Qualification as a minimum prerequisite OR

  • Be an STMS of any level with an expiration exceeding 12 months.

For those seeking a Practicing Qualification, possession of the new TMO Practicing Qualification is a prerequisite to obtaining an STMS Cat A/B Practicing Qualification. Alternatively, individuals with an STMS Qualification of any level expired for more than 12 months are eligible.
